The solo exhibition “Melody Chivit” presents a series of paintings in soft, soothing tones, celebrating the modest, peaceful beauty of everyday life.
Painted in oil and watercolor, the works explore a palette of bright rosés, through which Im Pesey brings to life emblematic symbols of Cambodia. These include the rice paddies, Phnom Penh's central market and the traditional cyclo. These scenes, both familiar and poetic, are enhanced by wavy lines set in gold leaf, adding a touch of light and refinement to the overall composition.
Im Pesey also excels in portrait art, delivering works of vibrant realism. In this exhibition, he pays tribute to traditional Khmer musicians and instruments, capturing their beauty and cultural depth with finesse.
