Guide #25 - A funny and greedy day in Phnom Penh

A selection of dishes (noodle soup, toast with ice cream, orange juice) and places discovered in Phnom Penh (the Royal Palace and rollerblading spots).
A funny and greedy day in Phnom Penh

For a fun-filled and food-focused day in Phnom Penh, start with a visit to the majestic Royal Palace, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Then, enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the capital's most popular dim sum restaurants. Afterward, cool off with a freshly squeezed mandarin juice before heading to an indoor roller-skating venue — a playful activity suitable for all ages. End the day with a comforting hot pot dinner, followed by a generous dessert. A delightful itinerary that’s sure to please both adults and children alike.

Activity
Truly impressive, the Royal Palace of Cambodia concentrates all the beauty of Khmer architecture. Although audio guides are available, I strongly recommend taking a private guide. It makes the visit more enjoyable and immersive. A local guide can accompany you through the palace's various structures, telling you about the royal history and rituals, and inviting you to take a close look at the frescoes, sculptures and precious objects. Don't forget to check opening days on arrival in Phnom Penh, as the palace may be closed for special events.

2 - Guangzhou Rice Rolls

Restaurant
An excellent dim sum restaurant where everything is homemade. The owner originally opened a street restaurant and, thanks to its success, was able to open his first establishment in TTP, followed by a second in BBK1. His specialty is rice rolls, which are really soft and perfectly thin. Several fillings are offered, such as shrimp, egg and pork, as well as vegetarian options. There are also classic siu mai, pork and egg buns, and duck noodles. And if you want to continue, there are also noodle soups and rice porridge. In short, if you like dim sum, you will be in the right place.

Activity
Got kids? Let them escape the heat and enjoy a skating session in an air-conditioned space, with music to boot. Okay, after a few bowls, you end up sweating a bit... but skating to music under the spotlights is so much fun! It's also a real pleasure to see the young people of Phnom Penh come together in this dynamic and friendly place. And as an added bonus, admission is only $2 from Monday to Friday.

This is a very popular restaurant for its affordable Chinese fondue. You'll find up to six choices of soup (spicy, chicken, vegetarian, beef, etc.) as well as a wide selection of meats, fish and side dishes. It also offers ready-made side dishes. There are many locations in Phnom Penh, preferring Daun Penh for a more intimate setting, and BKK1 for the private room with KTV.
