The storefront of Lowey Atelier certainly stands out: the butter yellow and baby blue of the facade catch the eye from the sidewalk.
I'd just finished lunch at Nai Nai Eating House, a few steps down the road. Excellent food — but no dessert on the menu, and I wasn't ready to end the meal there. Lowey Atelier was right around the corner. If you're eating in this pocket of the city, that's arguably the best way to use this address.
I ordered the Tiffany blue latte — an iced café latte crowned with blue whipped cream. Let's be clear: this is not a drink, it's a dessert in a cup. Which is precisely why I ordered it.
The rest of the list is far more inventive than your average Phnom Penh coffee shop:
Here's what matters most: the coffee is genuinely good, and fairly priced.
It's a big space with several large communal tables. It's comfortable, and the WiFi is solid, so yes, you can bring your laptop.
br/> But it's the bit that decides whether this place is right for you: expect the people around you to be posing. Photo sessions, flashes going off, chairs shuffled to get the right angle. For quiet, laptop-friendly options, browse my other coffee shops in Phnom Penh instead.
Lowey Atelier is unmistakably a young crowd's café, built for Instagram. But behind the styling, the coffee delivers and the prices stay reasonable. It's the address I'm glad to have in my back pocket when I'm in the neighbourhood and I need a coffee break.
