What immediately stands out at Veang Kafe is the visual care put into every detail. Soft, calming colors, charming decor from floor to ceiling — every corner feels considered without feeling try-hard. The interior is on the darker side (worth knowing upfront), but the atmosphere is warm and dreamy. This is not a functional café — it's a genuinely Instagram-worthy coffee spot in Phnom Penh, the kind of place you photograph before you even sit down.

The space is small — around ten seats inside — but air-conditioned, which in Phnom Penh isn't always a given. There are also a few stools outside: the street sees very little traffic, making the outdoor option genuinely pleasant when the heat is bearable. One honest caveat though: there are no tables, and you feel the absence. It's not a work café, but somewhere to set down your drink and your bag — that little surface matters more than you'd think.

What to Order

I come for the Creamy Coffee — the house classic. My regulars are the Salted Coffee and the Jasmine Coffee, the two things I look for whenever I try a new café in Phnom Penh.
One miss: the Mint Coffee leaned more granita than coffee drink, and the mint flavour was barely there. Not bad, just not in the same league as the rest of the menu.

Prices are genuinely budget-friendly. I visited on a quiet weekday morning and found the place calm, almost to myself. Most of the action was takeaway orders and delivery drivers. Weekends are likely a different story — if you want to enjoy the decor without competing for a seat, a weekday morning is your best bet.

My Verdict

Since café Keo Pok closed, Veang Kafe has become my go-to spot for salted coffee in Phnom Penh. But if you're hoping to settle in for hours with a laptop or a book, look elsewhere: no tables, limited space, not built for that.
